I have a wish list of things to get done and an IOU of time available. Each day the undone tasks get rolled over onto the next day and so on.
Sometimes, a task falls off the list undone. These tasks are what I call "perishable". They have a window of opportunity in which they can be achieved, and if I miss it, the opportunity expires.
Perishable tasks are usually the ones I look forward to the most. Often they are creative and/or inspired. Not like cleaning the bathroom or doing the dishes (which are NEVER perishable, and insist on getting done) a perishable task is something extra I have chosen, to feed my soul or my mind or my curiosity.
I get to as many of them as I can. This blog was one of them. So was planting a flower garden. And learning how to can. I'm sorry to say my big pumpkin patch didn't happen this year. I didn't get the asparagas planted. Nor did I get the irrigation system put in. And I didn't quite get to some of the produce in my garden before it spoiled. Time just got away from me.
At least, with gardening, there is always next year. I have big and probably not completely obtainable plans for the garden next year. I'll be working on all that this winter when things settle down. For now, I'm very happy with the 2011 garden and all the bounty it produced. Maybe not all of my "wishes" were granted, but I got to open a lot of windows.
Speaking of bounty, I have a guilty secret. Maybe you do too? I've decided to come clean and all has been revealed on the page I'm calling "Unsung Heroes!". Check out the tab above! :)
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to join me and the gang at www.facebook.com/thepocketfarmer .
Hope to see you there!
