Whichever straw it was that broke the camel's back, we now have a broken camel. Or rather, a kitchen that needs an overhaul. This week we took baby steps to get the ball rolling. The first thing we did to overhaul the kitchen was to revise our plans for The One. From this:
(Do you hear the angels singing?)
This is an old house that should have been bulldozed but for some reason we have been plodding away at rehabbing it. Probably because we like the idea of retiring at a young (ish) age and don't want to have crazy mortgage debt hanging over our heads. In fact, we should be mortgage free in about 10 years. Also, because we are very handy, we like the idea of making something new and functional, out of something lost and hopeless. And, although we love the gorgeous kitchen idea, what we really need is a highly functional kitchen that fits into our small space. And cheap. Free would be better. But we'll take cheap.
So, here is the "new" stove. For $75 we have a surface that is large enough to fit my canning pots and an oven door that closes. Hooray!
