And, oh yeah. What should I grow?
Whether you are new to gardening, or a regular, there
always comes a point when you are confronted with something you haven’t tried yet and think to yourself…should I plant that? In some cases, it’s just a different variety of a familiar plant. The Spring seed catalogs are filled with all kinds of new and different species that call out to us to be adventurous and grow that 3’ long asian squash!
But we don’t want to be disappointed. Sometimes, there isn’t enough space in the garden to waste on fancy untested specialty plants. If only there was a way to know for sure! From a trusted source!
Problem solved!! Sort of. It’s early stages yet, but I’ve been polling our FB friends on their garden plant
preferences. Which variety is your favorite and why? It’s unofficial and anecdotal, but I think it works.
I have gathered up all of your responses and posted it in one place for you to refer back.
There is a new tab (top right) on the website called “What should I grow?” along with attached tabs for each of the plant types we’ve discussed, so far. This list will grow and be a permanent record of your feedback. It’s been fantastic hearing what all you have to say about your favorites! :)
Feel free to suggest a plant category that you’d like to run by our TPF team of experts. I’ll post it and be sure to report back all of the responses. It’s a quick, easy, fun way to get a “referral” or “warning” on a plant you’ve been curious about and hopefully cut down on the garden “losers”. The better the garden, the happier the gardener! :)
As always, check in at www.facebook.com/thepocketfarmer to get the latest farm and garden gossip and gratuitous pics! I hope to see you there!
